Dear Friends and Family,
We're teaching 3 separate investigators. Apart from that, we're visiting many less-actives and focusing on '+10's', or 'fearlessing' at least 10 people per day! Fearlessing in the streets, the train, and the bus!
One of our investigators is the girl named Monica who's 17 years old, from Ecuador, and has attended English Class. She didn't attend church yesterday, however, and we passed by to visit her afterwards, however, she didn't answer the bell. I hope that she was at work.
Another is named Linoska. She's from the Dominican Republic. She's 21, has an infant boy living with her mother in the Dominican Republic, and she's very distraught. She also had an accident and has been in a neck brace. My companion encountered her in a street sweep that we had on Knickerbocker Avenue. She didn't appear interested and kept walking. Well, we were walking one evening down a street later in the evening when it was dark. As we were walking my companion noticed her and noticed the neck brace that she was wearing and approached her. She was sitting on the steps in front of the apartment building. She welcomed us and we've taught her. She promised us that she'd come to church next week. We managed to contact a Dominican woman in the Branch who has a car to drive her to the Chapel a distance away on 63-32 Forest Avenue in RIdgewood.
The other investigator that we're teaching is also a young woman! She's 22 years old, from Honduras, and has 4 children! She's very kind and we managed to teach her and commit her to read, pray, and attend church. She didn't attend church yesterday, however. We need to figure out if everything's all right! We couldn't obtain baptismal dates (particularly from Linoska) this past week, however, we are going to try to fix a goal of Sept. 11 as a baptismal date.
We've taught Linoska now 3 times-twice with members! Monica was also fellowshipped by hermana Viviana.
The area's growing, however, I'm a little eager to obtain some baptismal dates. The greatest evident concern for this area and any 'City Area' is that nobody ever has any time and EVERYONE works on Sundays. Many of the active members work on Sunday subsequent to church, for example.
We visited and met a less-active family who literally live in a single room. The have one son and one child-on-the way. We had to sit in their little room with no free space! They had two beds parallel to each other and that was it!
The area is generally safe. There are some neighborhoods, however, where it's not!
The weather has been very peculiar. It's been colder and there have been constant thunderstorms and strong winds with heavy rain. We were soaked last night, for example, and my planner got wet. :( It's okay, however, it's in the worst shape ever!
